ABOUT THE BRAND

WHY BASIL?

Human skin, the outer covering of the body, is the largest organ in the body. It also constitutes the first line of defense. The skin contains many specialized cells and structures. Basil, also popularly called as “queen of herbs” is the most healthy, sacred, and wonderful medicinal ayurvedic herb. It belongs to the mint family-Lamiaceae. The aromatic herb is full of nutrients and medicinal values.

Having antiseptic properties, it is a useful natural remedy for multiple skin problems and conditions. Basil provides macronutrients, such as calcium and vitamin K, as well as a range of antioxidants. Basil possesses excellent anti-inflammatory properties that work well in warding off skin irritations, small wounds, and sores. The goodness of vitamin C boosts skin cell's metabolism and elasticity.

PACKAGING FORM & SURFACE GRAPHICS

Before packaging, I began experimenting shapes & forms for packaging with paper. I also researched the existing competitors of skin care brands in today's market to see what materials they bulk manufactured.

After some trials and error, I stumbled upon paper form which is simple, creative and interactive at the same time. Here are some sketches of the form and its functionality.

surface graphics for secondary packaging

Primary packaging

  • The basil exfoliation scrub container made from acrylic plastic is designed to be functional and aesthetically pleasing. Testing has proved it to be compatible with the product and withstands all the chemical properties. Primary packaging is often the most important as it is in contact with the product being sold.

Secondary packaging

  • The outer packaging, which is the paper box called as the secondary packaging. It protects the product after primary packaging is applicable. The first thing a consumer sees, and gets attracted to. Meanwhile, an important criteria for branding and marketing. Eye-catching designs and messages drive sales. Brand information about the product such as ingredients, expiration date, caution, and usage instructions is a mandatory part of this packaging.

MATERIAL USAGE & BENEFITS

  • Aesthetic Appeal: Acrylic provides a sleek, glass-like appearance that gives the container a high-end, luxurious look.

RECYCLE- REUSE

Recycling acrylic containers can be a bit more complex compared to other plastics, but it is definitely possible. Recycle takes slightly longer duration than compared to other plastic materials.

Paper material is very affordable. They are also relatively inexpensive compared to other box alternatives due to the raw materials used to make the product. When done, paper boxes can be recycled completely making them an eco-friendly product choice.
